The Neoclassical style in Europe differed from country to country. In France, Louis XVI ushered in the style in the Parisian salons; Napoleon's version - Empire - was influenced by the treasures he looted from the countries he conquered, e.g., Egypt, and his conscious attempt to reinvent himself as a Roman emperor.
