St. Cecelia ....... St. Cecelia - Tiffany takes the scene from a 16th century Raphael painting, The Ecstasy of St. Cecelia (right, above) ... St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Made in 1887 by Tiffany Studios, St. Cecelia holds a row of organ pipes. This is the earliest Tiffany window in Trinity, perhaps in Buffalo (1887). Phelps commissioned the window in honor of her husband Orson, who died in 1870. Orson Phelps was an engineer who assisted with the Welland Canal and the Erie Canal locks at Lockport. The family of Livingston Fryer made restoration of the window possible in 1968. |

by Tiffany in 1887, this window shows a sad story Christ heals
a man of blindness and, at the same time, enlightens his
soul. ... The
blind man and his female companion represent Dr. Sylvester Mixer and
his daughter Mary. In 1876, Mary Mixer died in a train wreck near
Ashtabula, Ohio. Her father went to the site to retrieve the body and
was shaken by the horrible sight of the wreck. Mary's body was never
found. ... Annie Mixer, Mary's sister,
died in infancy and is pictured as a
winged cherub surrounded by Easter lilies.

as a memorial to
her husband and daughters.
