     As clearly shown below,
the drawing title, McKinley Square, is
incorrect. It should be titled Soldiers and Sailors
Monument.

Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Lafayette Square in Buffalo ... This is the same view in the drawing by Paul Massing ... This photograph shows the back of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument looking towards City Hall ... The McKinley Monument is two blocks away and is located in front of City Hall on Niagara Square and is not visible in this photo. ... The white marble and glass building at the right, the Western Savings Bank, replaced the earlier three-story Western Savings Bank in Massing's drawing. Note the three-story Western Savings Bank behind the hood of the car and seen in the postcard below:  Western Savings Bank, at far left, is the building behind the hood of the car in the Massing drawing. As clearly shown by these photographs, the Massing drawing title, McKinley Square, is incorrect. It should be titled Soldiers and Sailors Monument. |
