"The church of San Trovaso (contraction of the names of the two saints whom it is dedicated, Gervasio and Protasio) was founded in the ninth century. rebuilt several times, took its present shape with the rebuilding done after the fire of 1583. Also Attributed to Palladio, the structure is probably due to the student Francesco Smeraldi. The building has two similar facades, characterized by large thermal windows. The plan of the church is a Latin cross with a single nave with side chapels and short presbytery apse. The ceiling is vaulted." - La Nuova di Venezia e Mrstra (online Jan. 2017)
