The interior has 52 fluted Corinthian columns and 72 engaged pillars.

When the church was turned into a mausoleum by the Revolution, closing 42 massive windows were closed leaving the interior dark and cool.

The crypt houses the remains of more than 70 people, including Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Marie Curie, and Alexandre Dumas.
