"The piece, called 'The Journey... Coming Together,' is an acrylic painting that stretches across 300 feet of crumpled canvas. ... It is just short of the size of a football field when laid out flat. ... 'By "journey," I [Kazimov] meant watching this glorious building get built from the ground up through the seasons, seeing the architectural plans, hearing the stories, and also it was my personal journey of painting from early morning until late at night, fraying the edges of the canvas while waiting for the paint to dry… being in the moment and loving every moment.' ... 'It’s been exciting to see, especially as a native of Niagara Falls and as a resident of the city of Buffalo. The Conventus building symbolizes for me a renaissance of this new, bold and thrilling Buffalo.' - Colin Dabkowski, "New Public Art Project Comes to Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus," The Buffalo News, July 1, 2015
Local American artist Terri Katz Kasimov was commissioned to create two unique pieces for Conventus. "The Journey...Coming Together" is a 2' wide by 286' long canvas, vibrantly painted with acrylics and playfully displayed in the double-high lobby at the High Street Entry. Displayed at the north side of the lobby, "Construction...A Dream to Reality is mixed media collage on Archres which incorporates elements from the project construction site, along with contributions from the project team and contractors, into a richly layered narrative.
The painting hangs on different walls in the lobby ... Four additional details of "The Journey...Coming Together" below:
