This photograph of the Knox family was taken between 1910 and 1914, near Boston, Massachusetts. The Thomas was a Buffalo-made automobile in production between 1910 and 1912. It was a short-lived competitor to the Buffalo-made Pierce Arrow Motor Car. According to the Buffalo Transportation Museum, the Thomas was a luxury car costing $5,000. The standard car of the day was the $500 Model T. Seymour Knox, middle front seat, with Seymour Knox II on his lap. His wife Grace is in the seat behind him. Notice the fancy hats and eye goggles.
