Hitchcock chair
The so-called Hitchcock chair, a light painted side chair partaking of some Windsor characteristics, was produced in quantity and came into very general use at the time along with other modifications of the Windsor type under Sheraton influence.
The first Hitchcock chair was designed in 1818 by Lambert Hitchcock in Connecticut. See the Hitchcock Co., official web site.
