Second Empire style Second Empire style features: a straight Mansard roof ... Slate roof ... Modillions supporting cornice ... (Locally manufactured) orange bricks ... All windows on building are reconstructed mahogany round arched windows Reconstructed porch: There was evidence that there was a porch originally, although it had been long gone by 2008. To indicate that this is a reconstruction, the porch was built about an inch from the building. Voussoirs over round arched windows All 3 stories, including attic, have 11' tall ceilings. Often, in Second Empire style houses, the first floor is taller (and grander) than the second story, which is taller than the garret apartment. Transom window ... Side lights |
