"This lithophane lamp was donated to the Site when the lady's bedroom was restored in 1981.

"The lamp's most striking feature, its shade, is composed of six panels of translucent glass -- each depicting a different scene.

"The scenes are created by carving the face of each panel. The amount of light that is let through depends on the depth of the carving, resulting in subtle shading."
