Craftsman/Dutch Colonial Revival Style of Architecture in Buffalo
Buffalo, New York
1905-1930

Craftsman "Dutch" may be viewed in a larger context as one type of Arts and Crafts ("Craftsman") style architecture.

In the early twentieth century, Craftsman-inspired architecture competed with period revivals like Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial Revival, Georgian Revival, Tudor Revival, etc. In general, the period revival houses were more costly. Many historians point to the spread of Craftsman style through pattern books and magazines like Ladies Home Journal and The Craftsman. Prefabricated houses could even be ordered from a Sears catalog!

The illustrations on this page are of houses that have some of the features of both Craftsman and Dutch Colonial Revival.
