Edward Anthony Pauly
Architect Edward Anthony Pauly (June 16, 1902 - December 1, 1976) designed many churches and school buildings in Western New York. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School (1920) and Harvard University. His designs for religious buildings include the following:
Pauly was a partner in the architectural firm Pauly, Hauck & Welch and later Pauly & Hauck. Before his semi-retirement one year before his death, he maintained an individual practice at 250 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, NY. Pauly was known for his generosity and was honored by Sisters Hospital in 1973 for his contributions. He and his sister, Cecelia, donated a large stained glass window by Joseph Mazur depicting The Resurrection for the 1962 expansion of the Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Hamburg, NY. Pauly died at age 74 after suffering a heart attack while shoveling snow near his home at 158 East Main Street, Hamburg, NY. |
