Gray stone building on left is the German-American Bank
founded in 1882. In 1918 amidst the sharp reaction to anything German because of
WWI, the bank's name was changed to Liberty Bank. Now the site of the Rand Building
The monument is the Soldiers and
Sailors Monument. The public baths and showers located
under Lafayette Square may be still be there (but inaccessible)
