Presented by:

Kerry Mitchell
Manager,  Political/Economic & Public Affairs Canadian Consulate General

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

This lecture is part of the "Imagine Buffalo Niagara in the 21st Century" series
sponsored by C-SAAHN. Kerry Mitchell has served as Manager of the Political/Economic Relations and Public Affairs Program at the Consulate General of Canada in Buffalo since 1989. The presentation outlined several unique cooperative initiatives that have taken place in the Niagara Region between the USA and Canada, both before and since 9/11. An example would be the !909 -2009 Boundary Waters Treaty. Mitchell, speaking for herself, promoted the idea of seeing a portion of our region as "The Niagara International Peace Park," and perhaps receive UNESCO recognition. This would follow a long list of historical events which involved peace initiatives in the Niagara region.
This presentation helps define the term bi-national.
