	On each side of the portal, the middle statue of Queen Nefertari is flanked by statues of Ramses II. Knee-high statues are members of the royal family. Cartouches are hieroglyphics with an oval loop of rope with the ends bound together and that spell out the name of a king or queen, here Ramses II and Nefertari.
