Cunningham spending cash on Squier
House
The Squier House was sold at a quickly arranged auction on December 7, 2001, to Cash Cunningham, an auctioneer with operations in the Packard building and showroom directly across Riley Street.
On Friday, December 21, 2001, a demolition contractor hired by Cunningham inflicted damage on three of the buildings on the campus:
- 1886 Orphanage
- c. 1886 "Connector" building
- 1863 Squier House.
The same day the Preservation Coalition went to court to obtain a restraining order.
In the two and half years since those events took place, Cunningham has decided to restore the Squier House. The photographs below document some of the restoration.
In July, 2004, Cunningham was given a preservation award by the Preservation Coalition for his restoration work.
