Painting by
Hal Sherman received recognition
in 2008 by the State Department
The painting depicts Washington presenting the
famous medal to Red Jacket at the seat of
Government, Philadelphia in 1792.
Others included in the painting are Pickering, Knox,
Morris, Cornplanter, Governor Blacksnake, Farmers
Brother, and Good Peter.
The Iroquois were being entertained to help persuade
the Western Indians to make peace.
