Queen Anne
style house, with some Shingle
style features. Queen
Anne was the dominant style of domestic building from about 1880-1900.
Shingle style was also built during the same time period.
Shingle style features:
- The gambrel
roof, which is unusual for a Queen Anne
- (Shingle cladding on the attic level is common to both Queen Anne and Shingle
styles)
- (The Palladian window
in the gambrel is common to both Queen Anne and Shingle styles)
- It would be unusual for a Queen Anne house to have rooms above a porte-cochere;
less unusual for a Shingle house
- Casement windows
in the second story above the porte-cochere
- The eyebrow window
(covered by the pine tree at the left in this photo) in the third floor
of the porte-cochere
