Drawing #9: Oxen towing Walk-in-the-Water Sheldon Thompson's "Horn Breeze" shows teams of oxen towing the Walk-in-the-Water against the current of the Niagara River, in the channel between the mainland and Squaw Island. The Walk-in-the-Water, the first steamboat on the upper Great Lakes, was built at Black Rock in 1818.
