This presentation is part of the "Imagine Buffalo Niagara in the 21st Century" Downtown Central Library 2010 - 2011 Noon-Hour Lecture/Discussion Series every 2nd Tuesday sponsored by The Center for the Study of Art, Architecture, History & Nature (C-SAAHN).

Dr. James A.Williams, Superintendent, Buffalo Public Schools, described some of the challenges in managing a large urban school system. For instance, he sited in his years of educational experience, how emphasis on different programs effecting children can change as political leaders change.

Dr. Williams has been Superintendent of Buffalo Public Schools for six years and indicated his strong belief that students must be exposed to the arts if they are to be educated in the 21st century. He cited his support for a program that gets all 1st, 2nd and 4th grade students into Kleinhans Music Hall to hear the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as an example of that support.
