Caption:
General Peter B. Porter (1773-1844), perhaps Black Rock's most prominent citizen, originally built this home. When Grover Cleveland first arrived in Buffalo in the 1850s, he lived here with later owners, his aunt and uncle, the Allens.

This may be a rear view; a photograph of this house in Buffalo Architecture A Guide shows a small portico over the entrance instead of a full verandah. The child in the foreground is a later addition to the engraving. At the time this illustration was published, the Porter-Allen house was considered the oldest in Buffalo.

This is the "new" house at 1192 Niagara built by Gen. Porter  after the first house was  burned by the British in December 1813 during the War of 1812
