  • John Townsend (labeled), a member of a large family of Newport cabinetmakers produced precisely the same form over a period of thirty years.

  • Primary woods: Swirl grained mahogany

  • Secondary woods: chestnut, tulip, poplar and maple secondary
  • Alternate name for chest of drawers: bureau
