Great Hall
The Neoclassical
style was chosen to reflect democratic ideals. Ironically, Gilbert's friendship with
Mussolini helped him obtain the marble used for the interior columns.
The interior walls are faced with marble quarried in Alabama.
Busts of all former Chief Justices are set alternately in niches
and on marble pedestals along the side walls.
