Temple of Athena Aphaia on the Island of Aegina
The triangular-shape island of Aegina, the largest of the Saronic Gulf islands, continues to be the most visited Greek island because of its proximity to Athens.
Built in 480 BC, 40 years before the Parthenon, the temple is considered one of the most beautiful and best preserved in the whole of Greece. Thanks to restorers, 25 of the original 32 Doric columns still stand.
