The museum is entered through the cobblestoned Court of Honor (Cour d'Honneur), which is separated from the street by high walls and surrounded on the other three sides by the wings of the Hôtel [townhouse] de Cluny.

French flamboyant, "flaming." The name derives from the flame-like windings of its tracery  - see especially the balustrade - and the dramatic lengthening of gables ..... Pinnacles ..... Cartouche
