Detail - High Altar
Ebony cross with ivory crucified Christ

Between 1903 and 1904 sufficient funds were donated by Emma and and Jacob G. Lang, children of Gerhard Lang, so that the new marble High Altar with the statue of St. Louis, King of France, could adorn the large section of the sanctuary.

The Lautz Marble Works, whose factory was on Washington Street with its office located on Main Street, supervised the High Altar design, fabrication, and installation. The gift amounted to $25,000.
