  The Calling of Matthew

A Tiffany window of 1888 shows Matthew, the tax collector, with his bag of coins, ink well and open scroll. Jesus invites him to trade his rich furnishings and house slippers, and follow him on a rough= road.

Combining stained glass techniques, the shades in Jesus' robes were painted with oxides, the marble walls are opalescent glass, and rows of glass nuggets decorate the lower part

Given as memorial to James D. Sheppard, " the father of music in Buffalo," who brought the first piano to this region in 1827.
