This window (one of a pair), with the coat of arms of George Washington's ancestors, was in Sulgrave Manor in England for several centuries President Washington descended seventh in line from Laurence Washington, who bought the manor from King Henry Viii in 1539.
During the Renaissance, small stained glass panels were decorated with family crests and images copied from engravings. These panels were displayed in private homes and public buildings
